How the newsroom works
Last updated 20 September 2026
Every story on this site is bylined FightIQ. This page says what that means, because a byline you cannot check is not worth printing.
How a story gets written
Articles here are drafted by FightIQ's own writing system, from two sources and no others: this site's own data — the same graded picks, fight records and statistics on every other page — and the public record of what has already been reported elsewhere. Each draft is then checked by an automated fact gate, which compares what the piece claims against that data; anything it cannot verify is held back rather than published. Nothing goes out on that gate alone. Every piece is read, edited and published by the one person who runs this site.
Why the byline is not a person's name
Because there is no reporter to name. There is no staff, no newsroom floor and no freelance desk behind any of it, and putting a person's name on a story to make it look otherwise would be the one dishonest thing on a site whose entire argument is that you can check it. So the author of every article here is FightIQ itself — the site, its data and its operator — and that is what the page says, in the markup a search engine reads as well as in the line you can see.
When we get it wrong
Mistakes are corrected on the page and the correction is described, never slipped in. When a piece is wrong in a way a correction cannot repair, it is retracted: taken down at source, and listed below. The list stays up permanently. A record of what we published that quietly shrinks every time something goes wrong is not a record, and every number on this site depends on us not doing that.
Corrections and retractions
3 articles have been withdrawn since FightIQ started publishing. Each one was pulled because something in it did not survive a later check. The headlines are listed so the record of what we published stays complete; the articles themselves are gone, and they are not coming back in that form. They appear below exactly as they were published, which means a headline here may still read a figure we have since withdrawn: a retracted headline is not a claim this site makes, and where one carries a number, the number that stands is the one on the track record.
- “The model went 11-2 in Shanghai, its best card of the season” — published 29 August 2026, withdrawn 30 August 2026.
- “The Holloway call the room bet against” — published 18 July 2026, withdrawn 11 September 2026.
- “The autopsy: an 11-2 night at UFC Baku, and the two picks we got wrong” — published 29 June 2026, withdrawn 11 September 2026.
Nothing else has been removed. Pages are never taken down because a call aged badly — the losses are the point, and they are all on the track record.
Tell us we are wrong
Corrections and data errors are the most useful mail we get, and they are read by the same person who publishes the stories: gordon@fightiq.win. There is more on the contact page, and the method behind the numbers is on the methodology page.
This page is regenerated with the site, so the date above is the date this version was built. Questions about anything on it go to gordon@fightiq.win.
